New PLATO Courses 12/10

PLATO has added new courses to our content library:
  • Spanish 1
  • Spanish 2
  • Chemistry v. 3.0
The new version of Chemistry will be replacing Chemistry 2.0 and should work without the use of the Authorware plug-in. I'm assuming this will be similar to when they phased out Biology v. 2.0, so going forward you should use Chemistry v 3.0 for any new classes and v 2.0 will probably go away sometime over the summer. There are also other courses(advanced level courses as well as more language content) mentioned in the new course announcement, so those might be coming soon as well.

Galileo Update

Galileo has updated its home page. The log-in options are now along the top of the screen instead of on the side:

Teachers should still use the Galieo K-12 link and students should use the K-12 Student-Parent Center.

Galileo Scanline Update

ATI has released an updated version of the Scanline software, version 3.0. Bubble sheets now have different anchor marks and these can only be scanned using version 3.0. It is strongly recommended that you print an answer sheet and test it with the scanner before printing mass quantities and having the students use them, especially with the new version of Scanline.

New PLATO Courses

PLATO has added four new courses that are available now. The new offerings are:
  • Advanced Biology AP Edition
  • Advanced Calculus AP Edition
  • Advanced English Literature AP Edition
  • Biology Semester A/B v3.0

The new Biology v3.0 course is replacing the old Biology v2.0 course. The content has been redone, and the course no longer requires the Authorware plug-in that causes many issues with Apple computers. Version 2.0 will be available until around December so students working in it can finish their assignments, but Version 3.0 should be assigned to any learners going forward.

PLATO Upgrade

This past weekend our PLATO account was upgraded to version 2.0 from 1.3. If you came to the training in June, you had a chance to preview the changes in version 2.0. The changes streamline PLATO and make it faster and easier to assign work and view learner progress. On the student side, when they access assignments, they will no longer see the boxes for units, instead they have a list of each of the units and work their way down the list:

Fixing File Extensions for PDF Downloads

You may have encountered an issue while trying to download PDFs of reports you have run in the Data Warehouse. The issue comes from an incorrect file extension being appended to the file. I've created a step-by-step guide to changing the file extension so you can open the file. You can find the download on the Data Warehouse page.

New SASID Prompt for Data Warehouse

The Data Warehouse has added a very useful function for certain student reports. You know have the ability to run a student report for students by entering their SASID numbers. This means you can run a R-613 for a specific student by entering their SASID number. You don't need to find the specific year and grade of a test administration in which the student participated and then choose the student from that year's list of tested students.
In order to the SASID prompt, choose SASID Prompt for the Prompt Page, and then click Reprompt.

After the reprompt, you should see this:

SASID Prompt 2.png
Then you can simply enter or cut and paste a list of SASIDs and choose Insert so your list appears in the box on the right. After your list is in the box on the right, you are ready to run your report for the students with those SASIDs.
